MIL-SAT and Over-Sat awarded a $1M grant from the BIRD Foundation for developing RIGEL LEO/MEO Satcom Terminal, an innovative End User Terminal for the emerging LEO & MEO Satellite Constellations.

MIL-SAT and Over-Sat today announced that they have been awarded a
USD $1 million grant from the Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation.  The BIRD Foundation promotes collaborations between US and Israeli companies in various technological sectors for joint product development.  MIL-SAT and Over-Sat were awarded this grant for the co-development of RIGEL LEO/MEO Satcom Terminal, a multi beam, high-gain, light weight, stabilized and cost-effective End User Terminal, enabling the global, high bandwidth communications services of the LEO Satellite constellations, at Sea, on Land and in the Air.

The project was awarded the grant from the BIRD Foundation following a thorough review by evaluators from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) of the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Israel Innovation Authority. Driving factors that led to the grant being awarded to MIL-SAT and Over-Sat include the creation of an innovative solution that solves real problems and the benefit of the Product to LEO Satellite End Users worldwide.

As part of the joint venture between MIL-SAT and Over-Sat, the companies agreed to form, together with ASAT (Assured Space Access Technologies Inc.), a new company “Cassiopeia Space System Inc.”  in the US, to be responsible for the marketing and sales activities of RIGEL worldwide.
