Successful installation of inflight WIFI connectivity on Boeing 777

Over-Sat announced today the successful installation of inflight WIFI connectivity on Boeing 777 of an International airline. The solution, approved by EASA, is operating and provides on-board WIFI internet connection.

Over-Sat led the project as the prime contractor, responsible for all the aspects including the design, development, delivery of hardware and software, installation, testing, documentation and providing all the required regulatory approvals. EASA (the European Aviation Safety Agency) approved the installation and granted the STC (Supplement Type Certificate) and permit to fly documents.

“Leveraging extensive experience in Satellite Communications, Over-Sat is providing Mobile Broadband Communication solutions for the Airborne, Maritime and Defense markets,” said Lior Weinstein, co-Founder and CEO. “The inflight WIFI project was a complicated one that required an upgrade of the existing Satellite Communication system to support Broadband connectivity, in addition to the new Network Server, WIFI Access point, Control unit and Software. The project required lots of coordination, ground and flight testing, a huge amount of documentation and approvals, in accordance with the latest Aviation standards and regulation”.
